Training session in Jefferson Feb. 5
Darkness to Light (D2L) has launched a redeveloped training program and documentary film designed to teach adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Building on the longstanding success of the original Stewards of Children training, which has reached over 500,000 adults throughout the nation and world, the newest version takes a culturally relevant look at child protection.
The updated Stewards of Children documentary features a new selection of survivor stories, expert guidance, and practical advice as part of a five-step action plan to help adults protect the children in their lives. This evidence-informed training program also includes up-to-date statistics and current topics in child sexual abuse prevention, packaged into a concise, two-hour format.
Cathie Page of the Family Resource Center in Carroll is the local partner of Darkness to Light to offer Stewards of Children training to the Greene County community, available through a facilitator-led session or through a newly improved online learning platform.
The next training in Jefferson will be Thursday, Feb. 5. The training will take place at the ISU Extension office from 6:30 to 9 pm.
“This is a true milestone in the protection of our children,” said D2L President and CEO Jolie Logan. “The revised training and film reflect the insights that have been revealed through more than a decade focused on this issue. Training, awareness and new policy initiatives for youth serving organizations are all helping build a culture to end child sexual abuse.”
